Khanh Hoa Strengthens Supervision and Inspection of 125 Agri-Food Samples

To strictly regulate the quality of agricultural, forestry, and aquatic products in the market, the Sub-Department of Quality Management of Agro-Forestry-Fishery Products in Khanh Hoa province has implemented a campaign to increase sampling and food safety monitoring across the province.

Currently, Khanh Hoa oversees 1,217 food establishments under the jurisdiction of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (DARD). Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Viet, Head of the Sub-Department, stated that since the beginning of 2024, the unit has conducted 8 training sessions to enhance management capacity for local officials and 12 training sessions on legal regulations for 640 business owners. Assessment of food safety conditions has been completed for 348 business establishments and 277 fishing vessels over 15m in length, categorized into grades A, B, and C.

Through inspections at 102 facilities, authorities have imposed administrative penalties on 8 entities totaling over 86 million VND. Notably, 125 product samples were randomly collected for laboratory analysis of food safety and hygiene indicators. Currently, 120 samples have met the requirements, while 5 samples are awaiting final results.

Looking toward the year-end and Lunar New Year period, when the demand for agricultural and aquatic products surges, the Khanh Hoa DARD has developed a roadmap to strictly control the entire chain from production and processing to distribution. Key tasks include intensifying communication, promoting safe food suppliers, and increasing surprise inspections on high-risk items such as meat, sausages, and fresh produce.

Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Viet advises consumers to prioritize purchasing products from establishments verified by state management agencies as meeting food safety standards, and to always choose items with clear, traceable origins.
