Michelin Guide 2026: New faces shine on the Vietnamese culinary map
The 2026 Michelin Guide list for Vietnam has been unveiled, featuring 11 one-star restaurants and highlighting the growth of a new generation of talented chefs.

On the evening of June 4th, the list of selected dining establishments in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Da Nang for 2026 was officially unveiled. This year's event holds special significance as it celebrates the 100th anniversary of the prestigious Michelin Star rating system globally.

The 2026 selection includes 193 establishments, featuring 11 one-star Michelin restaurants, 72 Bib Gourmand recipients, and 110 selected eateries. Notably, for the first time in its four-year journey in Vietnam, the number of Michelin-starred restaurants has reached double digits, proving the thriving state of the local culinary scene.
Gwendal Poullennec, International Director of the Michelin Guide, stated: “Vietnam has transformed into a culinary destination with clear direction. We are particularly impressed by the new generation of Vietnamese chefs—individuals who studied abroad and are now returning home to carve out their own unique marks.”

The two newcomers to the one-star list are ONVIT (Hanoi), recognized for its contemporary Korean-Vietnamese fusion tasting menu, and Upstairs (Ho Chi Minh City), which showcases a modern Vietnamese tasting menu inspired by the flavors of the Central region.

In the Green Star category, Tales by Chapter (Ho Chi Minh City) was honored for its commitment to sustainability, including a zero-waste model and organic composting practices. Additionally, the Opening of the Year Award went to Chef Chris Fong of NÔM, while the Young Chef Award was presented to Trần Phước Hậu from The Monkey Gallery Dining.

Restaurants continue to be evaluated strictly based on five global criteria: quality of ingredients, cooking mastery, harmony of flavors, the chef's culinary personality, and consistency over time.
