On June 18, the Inter-agency Steering Committee for Food Safety of Quang Tri province held a meeting to review food safety activities for the first 6 months of the year, outline tasks for the remainder of the year, and conclude the 'Action Month for Food Safety'.

According to the report, in the first 6 months of 2026, Quang Tri province established 190 inter-agency inspection teams, conducting 3,167 inspections of food production and trading establishments. Results identified 422 violations, leading to administrative penalties for 56 facilities totaling over 855 million VND, alongside the destruction of illicit goods valued at over 629 million VND.

Notably, the police force initiated criminal proceedings in 2 cases related to food safety regulation violations, as well as the production and sale of counterfeit food products. Despite improvements in management, the province still recorded 3 food poisoning outbreaks involving 150 people, of which 104 required hospitalization.

Mr. Hoang Xuan Tan, Vice Chairman of the Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee, emphasized the need for relevant agencies to strengthen inter-agency coordination, promote digital transformation, and enhance the application of information technology in the management, monitoring, and traceability of food products to protect public health.
